August 2019
Chairs Corner Dear County Republicans, I have stated that we must think of our party as a small business operation: offering services to our legislators, candidates, and party members. Winning upcoming races (CD4, the Salt Lake County Mayor race and others) requires us to be well organized, well informed, and well funded. Much effort has gone into this pursuit. Our website is rebuilt and operating well. We receive more than 750 site visits per week and we add content on a regular basis. In addition: a) We have access to over 200,000 verified email addresses b) Our social media is growing in content and participation c) We have acquired a Contact Management (CRM) system to manage our data d) We have acquired hard assets that help improve our party, and e) The Caucus check-in App is developing nicely, thus ensuring a smooth Caucus Our August CCM is just around the corner. We respect your valuable time and appreciate your attendance. In an effort to be respectful of your time, we are scheduling future CCMs on Saturday mornings. Our next CCM is Saturday, August 17th at 8 am. A continental breakfast will be served. I will call-to-order the meeting at 9:00 am sharp. We will adjourn no later than 11:00 am. I look forward to seeing you bright and early. At our last CCM, a member asked me, "Why should one attend the Caucuses and participate in our Party as a volunteer?" This of course is a great question and each of us needs a satisfactory answer in order to volunteer, stay motivated and to see positive results. As your Party Chair, I recognize that our County is broad and diverse and I respectfully recognize that what motivates one, does not necessarily motivate another. Fortunately, there are many issues and areas that you can be engaged in. Your specific interest might include: lower taxes, local control, Olympia Hills development, smaller County government, the Municipal Services District, accountability and transparency of our local officials, teen suicide, water, the environment, fund raising, winning elections, and more. Fortunately all of these objectives fall neatly under the heading of "Preserving our Republic". This is a vision to which we can all ascribe. We have been quietly working on many of the individual issues. County Party volunteers have spent countless hours gathering data, educating themselves and others on these important topics. At our August CCM, you will hear presentations on a handful of these topics. You will also have the opportunity to identify and express what additional issues might be important to you. As your Party Chair, I will ask you to identify at least one area that you are willing to participate in. We recognize that your time is valuable and often limited, hence the saying, "Many hands make light work". You will not be asked to donate more time and resources than you have, but it takes each of us, working toward our common goals, to find success. With critical races and issues quickly approaching, the time is now. In closing, I would like to do a couple shout-outs and thank you's; Thanks to all who attended Trumps announcement party sponsored by SLCO GOP! We coordinated with Davis County, had delicious food provided by Representative Kim Coleman and the festive decorations and atmosphere were compliments of Log Cabin Republicans. In addition to a fun evening, we had press coverage from Channels 2, 4, 5 and more. Also, I would like to personally thank all of our E-Club members. We continue to grow our ranks, raising nearly $1,000 per month, month after month.
